Audiobooks and iPod

I love audio books. I’ve found them to be a great way to stay awake during long drives, because it literally sounds like someone is talking to you the entire time. Music, especially music you’ve heard dozens of times, is easy to tone out but audio books aren’t. iTunes and iPods/iPhones have the ability to [...]

Two for the Money

This is going to be a short movie review. I recently saw “Two for the Money”, starring Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey. Let me suffice by saying, I’m a fan of emotionally well acted movies with great plots and this movie was everything and more. Solid A. If I ever get my movie review site [...]

Crash Wins Oscars

I’m not disappointed that crash won the Oscar for Best Picture. It was a fantastic movie and considering it was based in LA it was an appropriate win. The Times has a great write up about it.

I Don’t Like Mondays

A few months ago I watched a rerun of perhaps the most moving episodes of the West Wing, “20 Hours in America”, in which a pipe bomb kills 44 students at a Midwest University. Martin Sheen, playing President Bartlett gives the following speech: More than any time in recent history, America’s destiny is not of [...]

Foreign Music

I hate working in silence. Thus I always have music playing when I’m working, but noticed that if I listen to stuff I like and understand when I work, I start signing along in my head and lose focus on my work. Thus I’m always listening to foreign music via Shoutcast when working. I recommend [...]

Kill Bill

I asked a friend to go see a movie but she was busy. Then I went to another friend’s house but got bored and didn’t want to see Man on Fire that late. So, I went over to Blockbuster and checked out Kill Bill Vol 1. Put it on 75db in the new home theater [...]

Pirates and Matchsticks

I was hesitant to go see it, but after being “forced” to see it I have to write about it. Pirates of the Caribbean is an excellent 2.5 hours of pure escapism. Great sets, fun characters, and a pretty entertaining story. And of course, Kiera Knightly adds a lot visually to the movie. Another great [...]

“The Guru”

The movie had so much potential, but they blew it. Officially the worst movie I’ve seen so far this year, and I find it hard to believe it can get any worse.

West Wing

Really one of the best, if not the best show on TV. Not only is it fast paced, highly humorous, but also it’s quite interesting. I hate slow shows where the humor hits you in the face causing it lose most of its effect (ex. Friends). The West Wing has humor that is subtle and [...]

Lord of the Rings

Fellowship of the Rings – 10/10 The Two Towers – 10/10 I’ll probably watch it a few more times before it leaves the theater (which won’t be for months I’m sure). Gollum was particularly impressive — especially because they had so much to lose if it was done poorly. Peter Jackson is a genius.
