The reason? The Giants beat the Packers. The Packers were favored to beat the Giants and many Packer fans had booked rooms for the superbowl anticipating a New England vs Greenbay showdown. After the Giants won the NFC championship all our hotels in the region saw approximately 25% cancellations. Being several weeks before the game there wasn’t enough time to lower rates and/or cater to Giants fans.

As much as upsets are fun to watch, uncertainty is bad for business. Well, unless you happen to be a Vegas bookie.
