If I had to describe my work habits in one word it’d be multi-tasking.
When I chat online few people are able to notice that I’m doing other things at the same time when I’m chatting with them. Just today I was chatting with a friend about mostly random stuff and at the same time managed to write bunch of code for a few projects. And when I look back at my timestamps in the chat window they are less than five seconds apart hardly faster then a person with average typing speeds. Not only chatting but also when I’m writing an essay or something else every so often I alt+tab out, read the news and go back. Its not like 30 min and then a break to read new they are like simultaneous operations. Even while writing code for an application or a website I’ll switch of it every so often and read someone’s info or web log.
I even remember back when I used to play CS (yes I did play. no I will never play again) I would work on things constantly when I died or even when I was waiting for the damn counter to run down on a few servers (8+ seconds start up time. I used to use a buy script, and always played in a window). Even when I talk to someone on the phone, I still go about doing my normal things (other than chatting, which I can’t seem to do at the same time while on the phone). And I’m constantly listening to music (if you call that operation, but that on IPOD).
Alt+Tab have to be the two most used keys on my keyboard after the vowels.
