You and a bunch of friend are out somewhere, and the rest of the group tries to set you up with another girl/guy. They are likeable, good-looking, fun to be around, basically there is nothing wrong with them. But still you don’t want to get together with them.
It just doesn’t float. It’s the minimum, nothing greater nothing less. Barely meeting the requirements, but there isn’t any excess superfluous matter.
